Dress for your body type
In today’s mini-guide, we help you figure out the shape of your body to dress, look, and feel better. This is not saying that you can’t follow trends; you can always pick the trends that look best with your body. If you have a hard time understanding the shape of your body or need a fair opinion, you can always ask a friend or a family member for help. It’s time to understand your body.
Triangle body shape
A man with a triangle-shaped body tends to have wider waist and hips areas in relation to the top part of his body. This body shape is a bit challenging because you want your outfit to make your entire body look proportional. So, what can you wear and what do you have to avoid? You can wear vertical stripes, jackets with structured shoulders, and single-breasted suits. Avoid fit shirts, roll necks, horizontal stripes, bold belts, skinny trousers, and bright colors.
Inverted Triangle body shape
Unlike the triangle-shaped body, people with Inverted-triangle shapes are known to have broader chest and shoulders compared to the waist and hips areas. If you’re a gym enthusiast, you’re probably one of them. To dress best for that body shape, try wearing slim-fit shirts, V-neck t-shirts, and slim fit pants with belts and jackets. Take care, you have to avoid skinny pants, clothes with padded shoulders and any prints or patterns around the neckline area.
Rectangle body shape
Someone with a rectangular body shape has an almost equally width when it comes to their waist and hips areas. The question is, if you’re one of them, what clothes can make your body look best? Layers, scarves, horizontal stripes, circular necklines, and bright colors are all for you. Just avoid double-breasted jackets.
Oval body shape
If the center of your body is wider than the shoulders and the hips areas, then you have an oval body shape. In that case, you can wear loose pants, suspenders, wide collar shirts, vertical stripes, and single-breasted jackets. Never tighten the belt and never wear visually disturbing or cluttered clothes.
Trapezoid body shape
Finally, people with trapezoid bodies are the ones that are the easiest to dress. Their rib cages widen up until they reach the collarbone and shoulders and they have narrow waists. If you have that body, you can wear slim fitted clothes and enjoy the sports-inspired looks.
